QUICK FACTS!
TITUS 2:13 — DOES THIS VERSE PROVE JESUS IS GOD?

One of the most debated verses in the New Testament is Titus 2:13.

Trinitarian Christians often teach that this verse proves the Apostle Paul called Jesus “our great God and Savior.”

But is that really what Paul meant?

Who was Paul referring to?

Was Paul saying Jesus is God?

Or was Paul referring to two persons:

THE GREAT GOD AND FATHER

AND

THE SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST?

The key question is:

HOW SHOULD TITUS 2:13 BE UNDERSTOOD WHEN COMPARED WITH THE REST OF PAUL'S WRITINGS?

Paul repeatedly distinguishes between:

GOD THE FATHER

AND

THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

For example:

“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
— Philippians 1:2

“Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you.”
— 1 Thessalonians 3:11

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
— 1 Peter 1:3

The question every Bible student should examine is:

IS TITUS 2:13 TEACHING THAT JESUS IS THE ALMIGHTY GOD?

OR IS PAUL SPEAKING ABOUT THE ONE TRUE GOD AND HIS SON JESUS CHRIST?

Search the Scriptures.

Examine the context.

Compare the passages.

Follow the evidence wherever it leads.
