Who is the Bible's true and only begotten Son of God? This study examines the biblical meaning of "begotten," the Greek language, and key passages of Scripture to discover what the Bible really teaches about the identity of Jesus Christ.

Who Is the True and Only Begotten Son of God?

His name is Yeshua—known in English as Jesus Christ.

God sent His only begotten Son into the world to save the human race (John 3:16; 1 John 5:5; John 20:31; Matthew 1:21).

Yeshua was not a pre-existent angel or spirit being. He was the second and last perfect Adam, miraculously begotten by God in the womb of the virgin Mary and born as the Messiah, Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:23; John 16:28; Matthew 1:18–2:1; Isaiah 7:10–16; Micah 5:1–6; Luke 2:1–7).

He was no ordinary man, for He is the only begotten Son of the One True God (John 10:36; John 20:31; Matthew 3:17; Mark 9:7; Luke 3:22).

Yeshua is the only person through whom we can come to His God and Father. He declared, "I am the way" (John 14:6). He is the door to salvation (John 10:9), and "there is salvation in no one else" (Acts 4:12). Our faith in God comes through Him (John 14:1).

Yeshua is God's chosen Messiah, the one Mediator and Advocate between God and mankind (1 Timothy 2:5). He was sent by a loving, compassionate Father who desires to save His creation.

Jesus had to be a genuine human being. As a man, He could fully understand and sympathize with our weaknesses (Hebrews 4:15). He also had to be the second and last Adam, succeeding where the first Adam failed (1 Corinthians 15:45).

Yeshua came into the world to reveal His God and Father—the One True God and only Creator. He taught us how to love God and one another, and by giving His life on the cross He paid the price for our sins, reversing the curse of death and opening the way to eternal life for all who believe, repent, and follow Him (John 3:16).

Yeshua is not the One True God.

A copy can be virtually identical to the original, yet it is never the original itself.

Likewise, Yeshua is the perfect human image of His Father. This helps us understand His words:

"He who has seen Me has seen the Father." (John 14:9)

Just as a perfect image is not the person it represents, Yeshua is not the same being as the One True God who begot Him.

Do You Know the True Yeshua?

Almost everyone has heard the name Jesus.

Yet sadly, many have never come to know the true Messiah revealed in Scripture. The Bible contains more prophecies concerning His coming than almost any other individual in history, revealing Him as the promised Savior and Prince of Peace.

If we believe His words and sincerely seek Him, we will find Him.

Yeshua, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, will return to establish God's Kingdom and restore creation according to God's purpose.

Look around the world. The signs remind us that time is moving quickly.

Jesus said:

"Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7)

Those who seek with humble hearts will discover the priceless treasure—the true Jesus Christ—who leads us to the One True God and the hope of everlasting life.

As Scripture declares:

"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation..." (Colossians 1:15)

And again:

"He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature..." (Hebrews 1:3)

The Human Soul — Does the Bible Teach an Immortal Soul?

Quick Facts

One of the most widespread beliefs in Christianity is that every person possesses an immortal soul that consciously survives death.

Many Christians believe that when a person dies:

• the body returns to the earth,

• but the soul immediately leaves the body,

• continues living,

• and enters either Heaven or Hell.

But is this really what the Bible teaches?

Or has the meaning of the biblical word "soul" been misunderstood?

When we return to the Hebrew Scriptures, we discover something quite different.

The Hebrew word nephesh (נֶפֶשׁ)—often translated "soul"—does not normally describe an immortal, separable part of a human being.

Instead, it frequently means:

• a person,

• a living being,

• a creature,

• a life,

• or an individual.

The Bible repeatedly teaches that man became a living soul; it never says that man was given a separate immortal soul.

What Do Most Christians Believe?

The traditional teaching found throughout much of Christianity can be summarised as follows.

Most Christians believe that:

• Every human has both a physical body and an immortal soul.

• The soul cannot die.

• The soul separates from the body at death.

• The soul consciously survives after death.

• The righteous go immediately to Heaven.

• The wicked go immediately to Hell or Hades.

• Every soul will therefore live forever.

But does Scripture actually teach these ideas?

Let us begin where the Bible begins.

The First Man

Genesis 2 records the creation of Adam.

Genesis 2:7

"Yahweh God formed man from the dust of the ground, breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul."
(World English Bible)

Notice carefully what the verse says.

It says:

"Man became a living soul."

It does not say:

• God placed an immortal soul inside Adam.

• Adam received a separate soul.

• Adam possessed two different entities—a body and an immortal soul.

Instead, Adam himself became a living soul.

The Hebrew text describes one complete living person.

What Does "Soul" Mean?

The Hebrew word translated "soul" is:

נֶפֶשׁ (nephesh)

Many Bible translations recognise that this word often means something much broader than the traditional English word "soul."

Notice how different translations render Genesis 2:7.

The Interlinear Bible likewise translates nephesh as "being."

The NASB Hebrew Lexicon also defines it as "being."

This immediately raises an important question.

If nephesh simply means a living being or person, why has Christian tradition so often understood it as an immortal part of man?

How Is Nephesh Used Elsewhere?

The answer becomes even clearer when we examine every occurrence of the same Hebrew word.

Englishman's Concordance shows the same Hebrew word נֶפֶשׁ (nephesh) translated in several different ways.

For example:

Genesis 2:7

living being

Leviticus 21:1

dead person

Numbers 9:6

dead person

Numbers 9:7

dead person

Numbers 35:31

the life of a murderer

Lamentations 3:25

the person who seeks Him

The same Hebrew word can therefore mean:

• being

• person

• life

• creature

• soul

depending upon the context.

This strongly suggests that nephesh describes the living individual rather than an immortal entity living inside the individual.

A Dead Soul?

One of the clearest examples appears in Numbers.

Numbers 9:7

Many translations read:

dead person

Others read:

dead body

Others read:

corpse

Yet the underlying Hebrew word is still:

נֶפֶשׁ (nephesh)

The exact same word used for Adam in Genesis 2:7.

If nephesh always meant an immortal soul that could never die, why is the same word used of a dead person or corpse?

The context shows that nephesh simply refers to the individual.

A living person is a living nephesh.

A dead person is a dead nephesh.

Adam Did Not Remain Immortal

Genesis teaches that Adam was created with access to the Tree of Life.

After sinning, God removed that access.

Genesis 3:22–24 explains that Adam could no longer eat from the Tree of Life and therefore would not live forever.

Instead, God declared:

"For dust you are, and to dust you shall return."
(Genesis 3:19)

Nothing in Genesis says Adam's soul continued living somewhere else after death.

The emphasis is exactly the opposite.

Adam returned to the dust.

The Soul That Sins Shall Die

The prophet Ezekiel leaves little room for misunderstanding.

"The soul who sins shall die."
(Ezekiel 18:4,20)

The Bible never says:

"The soul who sins shall never die."

Instead, it repeatedly teaches that the soul—the person—is mortal.

Conclusion

Genesis never says that man received a separate immortal soul.

Instead, it says:

Man became a living soul.

The Hebrew word nephesh is regularly translated as:

• person

• being

• creature

• life

and even refers to a dead person in other passages.

The biblical evidence therefore suggests that the soul is not an immortal entity living inside the body, but the living person himself.

The hope held out by Scripture is not the natural immortality of the soul, but the resurrection of the dead through Jesus Christ and the gift of immortality that God alone can bestow.

My research has taken me to Israel and many biblical archaeological sites, where I have searched for historical evidence supporting the Bible. I believe archaeology continues to confirm the reliability of Scripture, while also revealing that many long-held religious traditions deserve to be carefully examined in the light of God's Word.

The Bible warns that "the whole world has been deceived" (Revelation 12:9). For that reason, I believe every Christian should test every doctrine against the Scriptures rather than simply accepting what has been handed down through tradition.

My greatest desire is to help sincere truth-seekers examine the biblical evidence for themselves. Whether you agree with my conclusions or not, I encourage you to open your Bible, study the evidence carefully, and follow the truth wherever it leads.

What's wrong with Modalism?

Does the Bible really teach that God is one Person who simply appears in different modes? This study examines the claims of Modalism (Oneness Pentecostalism) and compares them with the full biblical evidence concerning the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

What is Modalism?

The belief that God the Father is the Son (Jesus) rather than the Father and the Son being distinct persons is generally called Modalism, also known as Sabellianism.

Modalism teaches that:

God is one Person, not three.

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are simply different modes or manifestations of the one God.

So, Jesus is understood to be the Father revealed in human form.

A modern movement that holds a similar view is United Pentecostal Church International and other Oneness Pentecostal churches. They reject the traditional doctrine of the Trinity.

By contrast:

Trinitarian Christianity teaches that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are three distinct Persons who share one divine nature.

Other groups, such as Jehovah's Witnesses, believe the Father and the Son are distinct but do not believe Jesus is God in the same sense as the Father.

Why is Modalism a false faith? 

"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them."
— Ephesians 5:11

The Oneness Pentecostal faith correctly rejects the doctrine that God is three persons, commonly known as the Trinity.

The traditional Trinity doctrine teaches that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are distinct persons who together are one God. This doctrine originated in post-apostolic church history and has become the foundational confession of faith for much of mainstream Christianity.

However, although the Oneness Pentecostal movement rejects the Trinity, it has, in my view, fallen into a different error by teaching that the Father Himself is the Son. In contrast, Trinitarians correctly deny that the Father is the Son, even though they teach that both are equally God.

This leaves two opposing doctrines, yet both, I believe, fail to present the simple biblical relationship between the Father and His Son.

The Scriptures consistently teach that the Father is not the Son. Jesus Himself declared that He is the Son of God, not the Father. He spoke of "My Father" throughout His ministry (John 10:36; John 20:17), and in prayer He addressed the Father as "the only true God" (John 17:3).

When Scripture is read in its context, without forcing later theological systems upon it, the message is remarkably simple. We do not need advanced education or theological degrees to understand it. The Bible nowhere teaches that Jesus is the Father, nor does it teach that the Father and the Son are the same individual.

Consider just one example.

John 14:11

Berean Literal Bible

"Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me; but if not, believe because of the works themselves."

Notice carefully what Jesus did say:

"I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me."

Now notice what Jesus did not say:

"I am the Father, and the Father is Me."

The distinction is obvious.

Jesus speaks of:

1. The Father.
2. Himself, the Son.

The Father is in the Son, and the Son is in the Father. This describes perfect unity, agreement, love, and purpose—not that they are the same person.

Throughout Scripture, God the Father never says that He is His Son.

Likewise, Jesus never says that He is the Father.

When the Bible is allowed to speak for itself, from Genesis to Revelation, there is no passage that plainly teaches that the Father is the Son.

Instead, the Bible repeatedly teaches that God sent His Son.

John 3:16 declares that God gave His only begotten Son.

John 20:31 explains that the Gospel was written so that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.

If the Father were literally the Son, then these statements lose their natural meaning. The repeated biblical language of the Father sending, giving, loving, and glorifying His Son would become difficult to understand.

The apostle John wrote:

1 John 2:22

"Who is the liar except the one denying that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one denying the Father and the Son."

The following verse continues:

1 John 2:23

"Everyone denying the Son does not have the Father. The one confessing the Son has the Father also."

These verses consistently distinguish between the Father and the Son.

Likewise, Paul wrote:

1 Corinthians 8:6

"Yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we through Him."

Again, Scripture distinguishes between the one God, the Father, and the one Lord, Jesus Christ.

For these reasons, I believe neither the traditional doctrine of the Trinity nor the Oneness Pentecostal understanding accurately represents the consistent testimony of Scripture concerning the Father and the Son.

My encouragement is not that anyone should simply accept my conclusions, but that every Christian should carefully examine the Scriptures for themselves, testing every doctrine by the Word of God.

May we always seek the truth with humility, gentleness, love, and respect toward those with whom we disagree, giving thanks to God through Jesus Christ, our High Priest, Mediator, and Advocate.

Welcome back to my final article: Why are Christians living in such poverty? 🌟

In Part 1, we saw heartbreaking poverty among Christians worldwide, struggling to afford basics. I wondered, what's going wrong? As Christians, we're promised God's guidance and blessings (Matthew 6:33). Yet, many struggle with poverty, especially in third-world countries.

In Part 2, I revealed MOST Christians are in false religions, not truly believing in the One True God and His One True Christ. They don't research or question their faith, leading to deception.

Now, in Part 3, I'll explain another reason why many Christians face poverty and i will share the good news!

The Bible teaches us to love God, obey His commands, and follow Jesus' teachings (Deuteronomy 30:16, Luke 11:28, John 8:31). It's simple: live without willful sin, do God's will, and walk uprightly (1 John 2:3).

Many Christians, especially those believing in the Trinity, are living in sin, breaking the first commandment (Deuteronomy 6:4, Mark 12:29). They believe God is three persons, not one.

Here's the good news: it's not too late to follow the One True God and His One True Christ. Leave sin behind, ditch false faiths, and believe in the true God. You'll see God's blessings!

A true Christian is a person who obeys Jesus teachings: John 8:31.

And those who obey Jesus teachings receive forgiveness if we should unwillingly sin and repent 1 John 2:1.

And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world. 

So now we have the answers to why we do not receive God's blessings when we ask and pray for, because most of Christianity say and pray and ask but do not depart from living in willful sin, as Jesus said in Luke 6:46 And why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do what I say? Matthew 7:21.1 John 2:3 to 6. John 14:21.

False Christs and False Teachings

False Christs and False Teachings

The doctrines that present Jesus as "God the Son" or Jesus as Michael the Archangel both present a false understanding of Christ.

The Bible teaches that there is salvation in believing that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the one true God.

"This is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." — John 17:3

The truth is wonderfully simple.

There is one true God—the Father—and one Lord, Jesus Christ, His Son.

Jesus is not God the Son, and He is not Michael the Archangel. He is the man Christ Jesus, the Messiah whom God promised and sent into the world.

Sadly, many sincere people have been influenced by traditions and religious leaders without carefully examining what the Scriptures actually teach. As a result, they may struggle to recognise the simplicity of the biblical message.

Jesus warned that false christs and false prophets would arise and deceive many (Matthew 24:24). That is why every believer should test every doctrine against the Scriptures rather than accepting it simply because it is popular or long established.

The Bible invites us to leave confusion behind and embrace the truth.

As Jesus said:

"Seek, and you will find." — Matthew 7:7

The gospel is not complicated. The Bible consistently points us to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and that through believing in Him we may have eternal life (John 20:31).
