The Lachish Letters (Lachish Ostraca) are among the most important archaeological discoveries relating to the Bible. Discovered at ancient Lachish (Tell ed-Duweir), these Hebrew inscriptions date to the final years of the Kingdom of Judah before the Babylonian conquest. Remarkably, they preserve the divine name YHWH (Yahweh), demonstrating that God's personal name was in common use during the biblical period. Together with the historical setting described in Jeremiah, the Lachish Letters provide compelling archaeological evidence supporting the historical reliability of Scripture.
