The Rich Man and Lazarus — What Did Jesus Really Mean?

Luke 16:19–31

The account of the rich man and Lazarus has often been used to teach that the dead are conscious immediately after death and that the wicked are already suffering in torment. However, if that were Jesus' intention, it would need to be read alongside other passages that describe a future resurrection and judgment, so Christians have reached different conclusions.

When we examine the account in its context, it is reasonable to understand it as a parable—a vivid story using familiar imagery to teach spiritual truths rather than to explain the literal condition of the dead.

The context is the key

Luke 15 and 16 contain a series of parables:

• The Lost Sheep

• The Lost Coin

• The Prodigal Son

• The Unjust Steward

• The Rich Man and Lazarus

Immediately before this account, Luke tells us:

"Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all these things and were scoffing at Him." (Luke 16:14)

Jesus is therefore addressing religious leaders who loved wealth yet neglected justice, mercy, and faithfulness.

What does the rich man represent?

The rich man pictures people who possess great spiritual privilege but fail to respond to God with compassion and obedience.

He had every opportunity to do good but ignored the suffering at his own gate.

His problem was not simply that he was rich—it was that he rejected God's ways while trusting in his own position.

What does Lazarus represent?

Lazarus represents the humble, faithful, and despised whom God ultimately honours.

Although rejected by society, he is accepted by God.

The reversal illustrates a recurring biblical theme:

"God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

What is "Abraham's bosom"?

Rather than describing a geographical location after death, "Abraham's bosom" was a Jewish expression for being in a place of honour and acceptance with Abraham.

It symbolises belonging to God's faithful people and receiving His promised blessing.

What is Hades?

The Greek word Hades often refers to the realm of the dead or the grave.

In this parable, Jesus uses familiar imagery associated with Hades to portray the certainty of coming judgment and irreversible loss, not necessarily to describe its literal conditions.

Why can they speak to one another?

Parables frequently include impossible or symbolic details to make a point.

Trees talk (Judges 9).

Animals speak (Judges 9; Numbers 22).

Seeds, vineyards, and servants represent people and kingdoms.

Likewise, the conversation between Abraham and the rich man serves the message of the story rather than functioning as a literal report from the afterlife.

The great chasm

The great chasm symbolises the final separation between those accepted by God and those under judgment.

Once God's judgment is established, the opportunity to change one's destiny has passed.

The climax of the parable

The most important lesson comes in the final verses.

The rich man asks Abraham to send Lazarus back from the dead to warn his brothers.

Abraham replies:

"They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them."

When the rich man insists that a resurrection would convince them, Abraham answers:

"If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone rises from the dead."

This is the central message of the parable.

Those who reject God's revealed Word will not necessarily believe even when confronted with miracles.

Ironically, Jesus Himself would later rise from the dead, yet many who rejected Him still refused to believe.

Does this teach immediate judgment?

Many Christians believe it does.

Others conclude that Jesus was using symbolic imagery to teach about the certainty of future judgment rather than its timing.

This second reading fits naturally with passages that describe:

• a future resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous (John 5:28–29),

• a future Day of Judgment (Acts 17:31),

• and the final judgment before the second death (Revelation 20:11–15).

Conclusion

The Rich Man and Lazarus is not primarily about explaining the condition of the dead. Its purpose is to warn that wealth, privilege, and religious status cannot save anyone.

Jesus teaches that:

• God sees beyond outward appearances.

• Those who neglect God's commands will face judgment.

• God's Word is sufficient to lead people to repentance.

• Those who refuse God's revelation will remain unconvinced even by extraordinary miracles.

The force of the parable lies not in describing life after death, but in urging people to repent, show mercy, and believe what God has already revealed before the day of judgment arrives.

As we have seen, the Trinitarian's like Dr. Grady believe and teach the unsaved people who have died, do not fully die, but a part of them called the SOUL, survives death, and is instantly transported into HELL ALIVE, who remain ALIVE, burning and suffering in everlasting fire and pain, who still have memory, knowledge, understanding as Trinitarian's say, believe and teach.

The SIMPLE truth is, because Trinitarians do not understand Jesus teaching of The Rich Man and Lazarus in Luke 16: by believing the story was a real, literal past event, instead of understanding the truth, that Jesus was teaching a Parable, their misunderstanding has led them to a false assumption.

And their own false assumption, of Jesus teaching The Rich Man and Lazarus, has led them to believe the DEAD are not DEAD, but are ALIVE in Heaven or (HELL).

Just as amusing, is how the Trinitarians are using their own Trinitarian Bible translations of the King James Bible, which contains many false BIASED translations, and so with their own hands, are deceiving themselves from the truth.

This is because many in the Trinity faith live by the King James Bible, and in that translation the translators have added the word (HELL), creating a false translation.

Notice the wrong word (HELL), which is deceiving the Trinitarians like Dr. Grady McMurtry into believing the DEAD unsaved are now ALIVE in (HELL).

However, if we put the King James Bible in the BIN, and use a better translation of Luke 16:23, which will not deceive us, look what we find!

As we see, there is NO word saying (HELL), but instead the correct translation in Luke 16:23 is: (HADES), and (HADES) is the Greek word for (sheol), which is the Hebrew word, and simply means the (GRAVE).

And if we look in Mathew 10:28, there we see the correct word being used for (HELL), and the Greek word is Gehenna.

And if we look at what the word 👉(HELL)👈 means, we discover how NO ONE IS YET IN (HELL). 👍

Lets now have a look in the Strong's Concordance at the meaning of (HELL, 👉Gehenna👈).

There we see the words for (HELL, Gehenna), means the great and fearfully day of the Lord called the Great White Throne Judgment day, (Rev 20:11-15), the final place of punishment of the ungodly, the lake of fire, called (HELL).

Notice in Matthew 10:28, how (HELL), is a place where BOTH the Body and the SOUL will be DESTROYED and ANNIHILATED for ever!!

And is NOT a place where the unsaved will be BURNING and TORMENTED in FIRE for ever and ever, as the TRINITY faith wrongly teach. And this is WHY Jesus called (HELL, Gehenna) in Revelation 20:14 (THE SECOND DEATH)!

And as most already know, the great and fearfully day of the Lord called the Great White Throne Judgment day, (Rev 20:11-15), the final place of punishment of the ungodly, the lake of fire, called (HELL, has NOT yet been fulfilled.

This concludes 👉NO ONE IS YET IN (HELL)👈, because  Judgment day has NOT yet come to pass. 👏

Conclusion:

1. Trinitarian's like Dr Grady McMurtry, do not understand Jesus teaching  of The Rich Man and Lazarus in Luke 16, and so are deceiving themselves into believing the unsaved are at present in (HELL).

2.  Trinitarian translators have added the word (HELL), on the wrong side of Gehenna which is the Great White Throne Judgment day.

3. All this confirms how NO ONE IS YET IN (HELL) and therefore proves Trinitarians like Dr. Grady McMurtry are deceiving people from the truth by teaching FALSE doctoring's of HELL.

The SHOCKING TRUTH is how the TRINITY faith is BURSTING with false doctrines, as I will yet again reveal and explain, by simply sharing with you the Biblical facts revealing how this Trinitarian teaching of the unsaved people going down into HELL alive, directly after their death is plainly and clearly FALSE!

Please, may I share what I know, and give it to you.

When watching these Trinitarian teachings, and their false doctrines, I so often wonder, why and how are they so deceived, who cannot understand the SIMPLE teachings of GOD's word?

Well, the SIMPLE answer to WHY the Trinitarians have COUNTLESS false doctrines, and WHY they teach COUNTLESS false teachings, and WHY are they so deceived, and WHY are they so blinded from the truth, is SIMPLY because  as all unbelievers, the secrets of GOD, are hidden from those who DENY The One True GOD, and who DENY His His One True Christ, as I will simply demonstrate how Trinitarians are also unbelievers.

You see, who ever DENIES Jesus as the Christ, by believing, saying and teaching the Christ is someone who He is NOT, as Trinitarians say Jesus is GOD Almighty, and who have false teachings and false beliefs, then by their own hands they deceive and blind themselves from the truth.

In a similar way as Atheist say there is no GOD or Christ and teach false teachings trying to prove their impossible evolution theory, the case is the same for all unbelievers who DENY Christ, just  as Trinitarians teach false teachings, simply because they are also themselves blinded from the truth, by their own deceptions and rejections, by rejecting the Biblical facts, caused by their own hard and prideful hearts.

In Revelation 3:8, there we see WHY Jesus will DENY certain people.

Jesus said the people who are saved, are the people who have NOT denied His name.

So as i was saying, if we say Jesus is someone who He is NOT, that is DENYING who the true Jesus is, which is DENYING Jesus name as the Christ!

And as the Trinitarians do NOT understand how their own faith of believing and saying and teaching the SON/Christ, or as they say and call Jesus by the name of (GOD the SON), and believe the SON is GOD Almighty, that wrong belief in return then DENIES the name of Jesus, as the Christ, and as the SON OF GOD, which also DENIES the Father and the SON 1 John 2:22.

The Greek word for Christ is  Χριστός, οῦ, ὁ, and means the Anointed One, Messiah, Christ.

And Christ, or the Anointed One, or the Messiah, never, ever means I am GOD.

And to believe, say and teach Christ, or the Anointed One, or the Messiah is GOD Almighty, is simply DENYING the name of the true Christ.

Trinitarians are in the same category as UNBELIEVERS, as taught by Jesus in Matthew 13:14.

This is the key word we are to focus on here, (HELL).

Because the Trinitarian's are using their own false Bible translations in the King James Bible, of Luke 16:23, they are in fact deceiving themselves, as we read their own Trinitarian translation saying:

And in (HELL) he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

The Trinitarian's are revealing with their own hands how they do not understand how Jesus teaching of Luke 16:23 was a parable, but they instead believe and think Lazarus and the rich man was a literal real time event of Heaven and HELL.

Within Jesus own words in the story of Lazarus and the rich man, we plainly see how Jesus is teaching a Parable, and not a past literal real time event, but is instead figurative speech consisting of representative and illustrative of certain things to come at the end of the ages, for the saved and unsaved.

The story of Lazarus and the rich man has to be a Parable, simply because there is NO such teaching else where in the whole Bible saying the saved people like Abraham and the beggar will be able to LOOK down into HELL, and see the unsaved burning and suffering in everlasting fire and pain.

When we understand the SIMPLE truth, the scriptures fit together like a jigsaw puzzle, and there are no contradictions, and then the Biblical facts reveal the SIMPLE truth, as we will now see how: NO ONE IS YET IN (HELL).

And here is the first Trinitarian deception.

The sad truth is how Trinitarian,s are deceiving themselves with their own Trinitarian translations as seen in the King James Bible of Luke 16:23: And in (HELL) he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Here we see how the Trinitarian's are deceiving themselves, by adding in their own translation as seen in their King James Bible wrongly saying (HELL).

The correct translation in Luke 16:23 is: (HADES), and (HADES) is the Greek word for  (sheol), which is the Hebrew word, and simply means the (GRAVE).

But sadly this is another Trinitarian deception, as the Trinity faith believe and teach HADES, and sheol, is a place where the unsaved dead are not dead, but are alive, as we see in their Strong's Concordance

However, here is the SIMPLE truth, which is, if we read and use a better translation of Luke 16:23, as seen in the Bible > Interlinear > Luke 16:23, we simply discover the correct word is NOT (HELL), but is (HADES).

And (HADES) is NOT a place where the DEAD are NOT DEAD according to Trinitarians, who teach are instead ALIVE in a burning prison.

The truth is, (HADES) is where ALL the DEAD are literally DEAD, and is simply a GRAVE, and no more than that, where ALL the DEAD are asleep, awaiting for Christ to raise the DEAD saints to eternal life, and where ALL the unsaved are also asleep, awaiting be raised for the great and fearfully day of the Lord called the Great White Throne Judgment day, (Rev 20:11-15).

The DEAD being DEAD or as the word of GOD calls it, ASLEEP, are waiting to be resurrected from the DEAD GRAVES, as we read in Acts 24:15 Berean Literal Bible: having a hope in God, which they themselves also await, that there is about to be a resurrection, both of the just and of the unjust.

So as we have seen, the proper translation for (HELL) is the place as described by Jesus in Matthew 10:28, where GOD can destroy both soul and body in hell.

So NO ONE YET IS IN HELL, because as we correctly read in the Strong's Concordance

Now please notice how Trinitarian's like Dr. Grady CONTRADICTS their own Trinitarian teachers and teachings as seen below, simply because the Trinitarian translators of the Strong's Concordance, tells us the Greek word for (HELL) is in fact Gehenna, a valley west and South of Jerusalem, also a symbolic name for the final place of punishment of the ungodly.

And as most already know, the great and fearfully day of the Lord called the Great White Throne Judgment day, (Rev 20:11-15), IS NOT YET HERE.

Also notice how Revelation 20:14 tells us how (HADES) cannot possibly be (HELL), simply because (HADES) is cast into Gehenna, which is (HELL), the lake of fire).

The question is, what then is (HADES)?

The simple answer to WHERE are the DEAD NOW, is in Ecclesiastes 9:10

Sadly as we know the Trinity faith is full of contradictions, they therefore contradict the old testament, which says in: Ecclesiastes 9:5, For the living know that they will die, but the dead don't know anything, neither do they have any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

As we see in Psalm 6:5, how the DEAD cannot possibly be ALIVE, because we are told they have NO memory In Sheol the GRAVE, which is (HADES), and NOT HELL.

For in death there is no memory of you. In Sheol, who shall give you thanks? Psalm 6:5

Let's have a look at what Jesus said in Matthew 10:28.

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

“Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Did you know that the word (HELL) is simply an English translation of the Greek word Gehenna.

This is seen by going to a better modern translation like the Berean Literal Bible

And you should not be afraid of those killing the body but not being able to kill the soul. Indeed rather you should fear the One being able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.

HELPS Word-studies

1067 géenna (a transliteration of the Hebrew term, Gêhinnōm, "the valley of Hinnom") – Gehenna, i.e. hell (also referred to as the "lake of fire" in Revelation).

Gehenna ("hell"), the place of post-resurrection torment (judgment), refers strictly to the everlasting abode of the unredeemed where they experience divine judgment in their individual resurrection-bodies. Each of the unredeemed receives one at the Great White Throne Judgment (Rev 20:11-15), i.e. a body that "matches" their capacity for torment relating to their (unique) judgment.

Conclusion.

This concludes how Trinitarians like Dr. Grady McMurtry's are FALSE Doctrines and FALSE teaching on HELL!

Jesus tells us in Matthew 10:28 how GOD can destroy both soul and body in (HELL).

And as (HELL Gehenna) is a place where GOD can destroy both soul and body, this proves NO ONE YET IS IN HELL.

Matthew 10:28 also prove how the Trinitarians like Dr. Grady McMurtry' are also teaching another false doctrine, because Trinitarians like Dr. Grady believe, say and teach the UNSAVED Will have ETERNAL LIFE ROASTING IN HELL FIRE DAY AND NIGHT FOR EVER AND EVER.

So as we see Trinitarians like Dr. Grady are yet again CONTRADICTING Jesus own teachings where Jesus tells us GOD can destroy both soul and body.

The Greek word  for DESTROY is ἀπόλλυμι and means what it says: to destroy, destroy utterly, I kill, destroy, (b) I lose, mid: I am perishing (the resultant death being viewed as certain).

Never, ever does the word DESTROY mean to have ETERNAL LIFE ROASTING IN HELL FIRE DAY AND NIGHT FOR EVER AND EVER.

HELL is  Gehenna the great and fearful day or Lord called the Great White Throne day of Judgment (Rev 20:11-15), the lake of fire. 

And (HADES) is NOT a place of DEAD peoples LIVING SOULS,  who Trinitarians say are NOT DEAD, but are ALIVE in torments as so wrongly taught by Dr. Grady McMurtry.

(HADES) is simply the GRAVE, where ALL  the DEAD are ASLEEP, waiting to be resurrected from the DEAD GRAVES, as we read in Acts 24:15 

having a hope in God, which they themselves also await, that there is about to be a resurrection, both of the just and of the unjust.

The word of GOD never contradicts its self, but teaches the same all the way through, that ALL the DEAD saved, are DEAD, ASLEEP, and are NOT already in (HELL), or in heaven, but: in an instant, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

I was one of most who taught this false doctrine, saying the soul is a separate part of our body that survives the DEATH of the BODY, and lives on in Heaven or HELL.

Now I finally know the truth, which is now obvious, please may I share with you this simple teaching by Jesus, by showing you the simple Biblical Facts!

Let us first examine the Greek word for destroy:

apollumi: to destroy, destroy utterly

Original Word: ἀπόλλυμι

Part of Speech: Verb

Transliteration: apollumi

Phonetic Spelling: (ap-ol'-loo-mee)

Definition: to destroy, destroy utterly

Usage: (a) I kill, destroy, (b) I lose, mid: I am perishing (the resultant death being viewed as certain).

As we see, there is nothing saying destroy means to keep alive, but as we read: (the resultant death being viewed as certain).

Firstly, the first part of Jesus statement saying: And you should not be afraid of those killing the body but not being able to kill the soul, is referring to ALL humans, and is the first DEATH.

The fearful part is the end of the statement by Jesus saying: Indeed rather you should fear the One being able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna, and is referring to the UNSAVED, non believers, and is the second DEATH Revelation 20:14 The Final Judgment!

And we will see in the actual words of Jesus in the end of the verse, how Jesus Himself (DESTROYS) the Christian doctrine of the lost SOUL living on for ever.

Let us now look at some very obvious and simple facts here in Jesus words that plainly and clearly demonstrate how the SOUL is not a part of the body that survives and lives on after the body is killed.

The fact that Jesus said GOD is able to (DESTROY) both soul and body in Gehenna proves the place Gehenna, which is HELL, the lake of fire is a place of total destruction and alienation for BOTH the soul and the body in Gehenna HELL, which explains why Jesus said: this is the second death, and is told in Revelation 20:14 The Final Judgment!

11 And I saw a great white throne and the One sitting on it, from whose face the earth and heaven fled, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened.

And another book was opened, which is the one of life. And the dead were judged out of the things having been written in the books, according to their deeds. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it; and death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them; and each of them were judged according to their works.

14 And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone was not found having been written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.

Secondly, if (DESTROY) did not mean alienation, as many Christians seem to think, that then would simply mean the body would live on forever also, and not BURN up in Gehenna HELL, and not be (DESTROYED).

So therefore as Jesus says BOTH BODY and SOUL is (DESTROYED), that proves the Christian teachings of the lost SOUL burning for ever and ever in HELL, is clearly another false doctrine.

Here are some more obvious facts to consider!

Jesus did not say (ONLY) the body, and not the SOUL, but BOTH, BODY and SOUL.

There is no mention by Jesus saying the SOUL cannot die, or that the SOUL is immortal.

KILL, never ever means the opposite EVERLASTING LIFE, as most Christians mostly teach and believe the LOST are not KILLED but live for ever in the LAKE of Fire.

DESTROY, SECOND DEATH, never ever means eternal life for the lost burning in the lake of fire for ever and ever, as taught by most Christians.

And the fact we are clearly told that BOTH BODY and SOUL is able to be (DESTROYED), agrees with the whole  Bible, saying DEATH means DEATH/alienation, as in Romans 6:23 Berean Literal Bible

For the wages of sin is DEATH, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

And  James 4:12 confirms Jesus teachings, by saying: There is one Lawgiver and Judge, the One being able to save and to destroy.

Did you notice how James 4:12 tells us (The ONE) able to save and to destroy.

We know the Father and the SON act as ONE, as (The ONE) able to save and to destroy. Isaiah 33:22

World English Bible For Yahweh is our judge. Yahweh is our lawgiver. Yahweh is our king. He will save us.

Now, with all that in mind, please see in John 3:17 tells us:

For God did not send His Son into the world that He might judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

John 8:15

You judge according to the flesh; I am judging no one.

John 12:47

And if anyone hears My words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world.

The SOUL is simply the (LIVING/LIFE) of a person.

We know this because Adam was not given a SOUL, but when GOD breathed into His nostril the breath of life, Adam became a LIVING SOUL.

Let us quickly check this out!

Let's turn to Genesis 2:7 World English Bible:

Yahweh God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living (SOUL).

As we clearly read, MAN was not given a SOUL, but became a living (SOUL).

And I now understand correctly what the (SOUL) is: which is (The LIFE). 

To finally understand this simple truth, I had to unlearn what I had previously learned, to re-learn what's now so obvious to know!

Please may I now tell you what I re-learned and believe about what the (SOUL) actually is?

Well, the FLESH is the (BODY).

And the (SOUL) is the (LIFE) of the person.

And when the BODY has the breathe of life, the TWO together make a (LIVING SOUL), and that's why Adam became a (LIVING SOUL): and man became a living (SOUL) Genesis 2:7.

And when a person has died, they are a DEAD SOUL/PERSON.

This explains why we read in: Ezekiel 18:20 World English Bible The soul who sins, he shall die: the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be on him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be on him.  

Did you see that - The soul who sins, he shall die:   

We do not read in the word of GOD what most of today's Christian's wrongly believe, preach and teach, that the SOUL NEVER DIES! 

But as Jesus said the lost (BODY and SOUL) Matthew 10:28 will be raised from the dead Revelation 20:12, to be judged and utterly, DESTROYED, obliterated, and ANNIHILATED, when the SOUL/LIFE/BREATH of the person will DIE for ever!!

Revelation 20: The Final Judgment

My Conclusion:

Is there anything more fearful, then discovering you was wrong and deceived, when a day will come when you unbelievers will wake up from being asleep in the gave, and now face your judgment by being told the truth, that you will be punished and destroyed, loosing your SOUL (LIFE) for ever, and ever in the Fires of HELL, being (DESTROYED), and separated from our loving Father and creator forever?

All because we would not leave our sinful life, believe and put our trust in our heavenly Father and creator who proved His divine love to save us by giving His only Begotten SON not to condemn us but save us with everlasting life in a perfect new world to come, with Christ the perfect King, Mediator and brother, and coming Prince of Peace.

The fearful truth is how most of the human race refuse to believe this shocking truth of how GOD is able and will raise all the dead to a day called judgement day, also known as the great and fearful day of the Lord: 2 Corinthians 5:10

What is eternal death?

Question: "What is eternal death?"

Answer: In short, eternal death is the fate that awaits all people who ultimately reject God, reject the gospel of His Son, Jesus Christ, and remain in their sin and disobedience. Physical death is a one-time experience. Eternal death, on the other hand, is everlasting. It is a death that continues through eternity, a spiritual death that is experienced on a continual basis. Just as spiritual life, by grace through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9) is everlasting life, eternal death is never-ending.

The most important question to be answered is “Does the Bible teach the doctrine of eternal death?” If the Bible doesn’t teach eternal death, then we can pack up and go home because there is no further debate on the issue. God’s Word, the Bible, is the infallible rule of faith and practice, and as such we must believe and teach only what it clearly teaches, and the Bible clearly teaches the doctrine of eternal death. We can point to several passages that explicitly state this, but for our purposes, only three will be needed, one from the Old Testament and two from the New.

• And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. (Daniel 12:2 ESV)

• And [the wicked] will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. (Matthew 25:46 ESV)

• And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15 ESV). In verse 10, we are told that the Lake of Fire burns “forever and ever.”

All three of these passages (and more could have been added) have as their main context the scene of final judgment. In other words, when Christ returns, three things will occur: 1) The general resurrection of “the living and the dead”; 2) the final judgment; and 3) the inauguration of the eternal state. Each of these passages demonstrates that during the final judgment of all people, Jesus will separate the righteous from the wicked. The righteous will be ushered into the final state of glory, while the wicked will be sent to the lake of fire for eternal punishment and torment. Note too (particularly in the Daniel and Matthew passages) that the same adjective (“everlasting” or “eternal”) is used to modify both “life” and “punishment/contempt.” What is true about one (life) must be true about the other (punishment), that both are eternal and last forever.

The doctrine of eternal death is not a popular doctrine to teach or proclaim. To do so often opens one up to scorn and ridicule. However, we must not let that detract us from what the Bible so clearly teaches; namely, that due to our being born in sin and trespasses, we are under the just condemnation of God for our sin. If we do not embrace the saving message of Jesus Christ, we will perish in our sin and trespasses and be under God’s just judgment for our sin—eternal death. This is a sobering doctrine and requires the utmost care and compassion in its presentation.

 Notice how the Trinitarian says:

Eternal death, on the other hand, is everlasting. It is a death that continues through eternity, a spiritual death that is experienced on a continual basis. 

Did you see the Trinitarian CONTRADICTION: It is a death that continues through eternity, and then goes on to say: a spiritual death that is experienced on a continual basis. 

Where does the Bible ever teach only a part of a person DIES?

Jesus said in Mathew 10:28 that both the BODY and the SOUL of the UNSAVED will be DESTROYED, and called this the second DEATH.

GOD or Jesus did not say the SOUL was immortal and would SURVIVE DEATH and will live on after the second DEATH burning in HELL FIRE for EVER.

Ezekiel 18:4

Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins, he shall (DIE).

There are children that understand DEATH ends with total, literal, ANNIHILATION.

The second DEATH means the literal END, and does NOT mean that any form of LIFE that has been destroyed continues to experience LIVING on a continual basis. 

Notice how Jesus tells us in John 11 how Lazarus has fallen asleep:

11 He said these things, and after this He says to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go that I may awaken him.”

12 Therefore His disciples said, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will get well.” 13Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He speaks of the rest of sleep.

And then we read Lazarus is DEAD:

14 So then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died, 15 and I am glad for your sake I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”

Unless you are GOD or Jesus, where nothing is impossible, they can raise the DEAD from DEATH, making the first DEATH temporal, which is why the Bible calls the first death, SLEEP.

Deuteronomy 32:39

"See now that I, even I, am he, There is no god with me. I kill, and I make alive. I wound, and I heal. There is no one who can deliver out of my hand.

Notice how the Trinitarian goes on to CONFIRM: and the Bible clearly teaches the doctrine of eternal death.

And yet we see here how this Trinitarian contradicts himself and the word of GOD and says the DEAD are not DEAD but are living forever burning in HELL FIRE.

As we read again, the Trinity faith is bursting with countless CONTRADICTIONS, as here they confirm: and the Bible clearly teaches the doctrine of eternal death.

And yet in their other hand the DEAD unsaved are NOT DEAD, and do NOT have eternal death, as they say, but are suffering LIVING and are ALIVE in HELL FIRE, which in fact is not eternal death, but is instead eternal life, if the DEAD are instead ALIVE suffering as they say.

Now we know what Trinitarians say, believe and teach, let's now see what Jesus believes, by reading His incredible words, which alone proves most of Christianity believe in a false (GOD the SON), instead of believing in the One True GOD, and His One True Christ.

These words by Jesus found in John 17:3 where Jesus is praying to His Father GOD reveal some very important truths, and would put an end to the greatest Christian deception and confusion, if most of Christianity would only listen and believe Jesus words:

John 17:3

that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.

Jesus tells us His Father GOD is the ONLY ONE TRUE GOD ALONE, by the fact He does not say: that they may know (US), the only true God, but instead Jesus excludes Himself as being the same ONE TRUE GOD, and prays to His Father GOD saying: (YOU), meaning GOD ALONE is the only ONE TRUE GOD.

These words by Jesus here praying to His Father GOD saying: (YOU), the only true GOD, go side by side with the greatest commandment by both GOD and Jesus in Deuteronomy 6:4 and Mark 12:29 saying we MUST have the knowledge and understanding of who GOD is and believe that Yahweh is the ONLY ONE TRUE GOD ALONE, who is the GOD of Israel, and who is ONE (PERSON) ALONE.

The Hebrew text of Deuteronomy 6:4 says: Hear, Israel: Yahweh is our God; Yahweh is ONE.

Jesus answered, "The foremost is, 'Hear this O Israel: The Lord our God is One Lord,

By Jesus own words He proves He Himself is not GOD, but as He says in John 17:1 that GOD is His literal Father and He is GOD'S literal Son: Jesus spoke these things, and having lifted up His eyes to heaven, He said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You.

And for this article the first words by Jesus in John 17:3 saying: Now this is eternal life, is the main subject of this article.

As we know most of Christianity within the TRINITY and the Oneness Pentecostal faith say, teach and believe that the UNSAVED will have ETERNAL LIFE burning in the lake of FIRE FOR EVER AND EVER who will never DIE.

So let's now see many more of the Biblical facts, by letting the Bible speak for itself, and discover if the doctrine of ETERNAL LIFE ROASTING IN HELL FIRE FOR EVER AND EVER is true or false.

1 John 4:1

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Notice how Jesus said in the first part of John 17:3 Now this is eternal life.

No one needs to be a Bible Scholar to understand here Jesus is teaching to have (ETERNAL LIFE) simply means to LIVE FOR EVER and EVER and never DIE.

And yet what we find is that millions of Christians say, believe and teach the UNSAVED will also have ETERNAL LIFE living for ever, burning in the lake of FIRE FOR EVER AND EVER and will also never DIE.

And if  the UNSAVED also have ETERNAL LIFE, this would CONTRADICT the whole Bible including Jesus own teachings saying: Now this is eternal life.

This subject is very easy to understand that Jesus is telling us Now this is eternal life, that we all come to know His Father GOD who is the wonderful creator alone, and that we all come to know the Father of Jesus is the ONLY ONE TRUE GOD ALONE, and that we also all come to know Jesus, The TRUE CHRIST who is the Begotten SON of GOD.

Now this is obvious that the opposite to eternal life, must be eternal DEATH.

But according to most of Christianity they say, believe and teach the UNSAVED will also have eternal life in HELL instead of Heaven.

When the truth is NO ONE will have eternal life in HELL or in Heaven, because the Bible tells us the UNSAVED will be destroyed and DIE in HELL Matthew 10:28, Revelation 21:8.

While the SAVED will not live in HEAVEN but on this renewed earth Matthew 6:

9 Therefore pray you like this:  ‘Our Father in the heavens,  hallowed be Your name!  10 Your kingdom come.  Your will be done  as in heaven, so also upon earth.

Simply notice how Jesus did NOT say: Now this is eternal life,  BURNING in the LAKE of FIRE for the UNSAVED, simply because if the UNSAVED do not ever DIE, then that is also ETERNAL LIFE.

Jesus made this very clear by saying the UNSAVED will be DESTROYED Matthew 10:28 which will result in the SECOND DEATH, for those who DO NOT come to know and follow The Only TRUE GOD, and The Only TRUE Jesus Christ.

Just as Paul said in Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is (DEATH), but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We never, ever read Paul saying or teaching: For the wages of sin is eternal life, BURNING in the LAKE of FIRE.

But as Jesus, Paul makes this very plain and simple by saying: For the wages of sin is DEATH.

WHY is this so hard for millions of Christians to understand that DEATH means DEATH and NOT eternal life?

Just as it seems almost impossible for millions of Christians to understand that the word (ONE) in Deuteronomy 6:4 and Mark 12:29 means (ONE) person and NOT (THREE) persons called the TRINITY.

Let's now move onto many more Scriptures Proving THE UNSAVED Will Not Have ETERNAL LIFE ROASTING IN HELL FIRE FOR EVER AND EVER.

But instead will receive everlasting DEATH, because sin results in death, but those who are in the true Christ will reap eternal life.

Proverbs 11:19

Genuine righteousness leads to life, but the pursuit of evil brings (DEATH).

Notice how there is nothing said in Proverbs 11:19 about the LOST living for ever, but instead we read how the lost will receive DEATH, which is ANNIHILATION.

In the old testament days GOD always warned His people about how obeying Him and walking upright would receive His blessings, but on the other hand for those who transgressed his Laws, by wilfully living in SIN and living in rebelliousness and worshiping false gods and TRINITY gods, would result in being punished, even to DEATH.

Deuteronomy 4:26

I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto you go over the Jordan to possess it; you shall not prolong your days on it, but shall utterly be destroyed.

Whether the Bible is referring to the first DEATH, or the second DEATH, this matters not, because if we DIE in our SINS, because we have been living according to fleshly desires, and unrepentant SIN, rebelliousness, and wicked deeds, this will always receive the final penalty for SIN, which is a second FINAL DEATH.

Romans 8:13

For if you live according to flesh, you are about to die; but if by the Spirit you put to DEATH the deeds of the body, you will LIVE.

Notice below how Trinitarian Barnes' Notes on the Bible tells us: you will sink to eternal death, which is odd as most Trinitarians do not believe the unsaved will have eternal death:

For if you live ... - If you live to indulge your carnal propensities, you will sink to eternal death; Romans 7:23.

Through the Spirit - By the aid of the Spirit; by cherishing and cultivating his influences. What is here required can be accomplished only by the aid of the Holy Spirit.

Do mortify - Do put to death; do destroy. Sin is mortified when its power is destroyed, and it ceases to be active.

The deeds of the body - The corrupt inclinations and passions; called deeds of the body, because they are supposed to have their origin in the fleshly appetites.

Ye shall live - You shall be happy and saved. Either your sins must die, or you must. If they are suffered to live, you will die. If they are put to death, you will be saved. No man can be saved in his sins. This closes the argument of the apostle for the superiority of the gospel to the Law in promoting the purity of man. By this train of reasoning, he has shown that the gospel has accomplished what the Law could not do - the sanctification of the soul, the destruction of the corrupt passions of our nature, and the recovery of man to God. Barnes' Notes on the Bible 

The only difference between the first DEATH and the second DEATH of the UNSAVED, is that GOD will raise all the DEAD out from the sleep of the first DEATH to be finally judged and sentenced to the second DEATH FOR EVER.

The Bible is very clear about teaching how there will be a resurrection of all the DEAD:

Acts 24:15 

having a hope in God, which they themselves also await, that there is about to be a resurrection, both of the just and of the unjust.

Proverbs 12:28

In the way of righteousness is life; in its path there is no (DEATH).

Throughout the whole Bible we always read how GODS righteousness will bring LIFE, but unrighteousness will bring (DEATH).

Jeremiah 21:8

World English Bible

To this people you shall say, Thus says Yahweh: Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of (DEATH).

We never, ever, read how GOD will raise the unrighteousness DEAD, to then give the unrighteousness DEAD, ETERNAL LIFE living somewhere else like the LAKE of FIRE.

Deuteronomy 4:26

Deuteronomy 30:19

James 1:15 

Then desire having conceived, gives birth to sin; and sin having become fully grown, brings forth (DEATH).

There is nothing here by James saying sin having become fully grown, brings forth ETERNAL LIFE ROASTING IN HELL FIRE FOR EVER AND EVER. 

But we again see how James tells us sin having become fully grown, brings forth DEATH.

What does the word (PERISH) mean?

Does the word (PERISH) mean ETERNAL LIFE, if the UNSAVED will live FOR EVER?

Let's have a LOOK:

John 3:16

Berean Literal Bible

For God so loved the world that He gave the only begotten Son, so that everyone believing in Him should not (PERISH), but should have eternal life.

John 10:27–28 

27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and never shall they (PERISH) to the age, and never will anyone seize them out of My hand.

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord does not delay the promise, as some esteem slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish (PERISH), but all to come to repentance.

In the Strong's Concordance we read the Greek word ἀπόλλυμι for (PERISH) means:

apollumi: to destroy, destroy utterly

Original Word: ἀπόλλυμι

Part of Speech: Verb

Transliteration: apollumi

Phonetic Spelling: (ap-ol'-loo-mee)

Definition: to destroy, destroy utterly

Usage: (a) I kill, destroy, (b) I lose, mid: I am perishing (the resultant death being viewed as certain).

[e] apolētai ἀπόληται  , should perish

Psalm 37:20 World English Bible

But the wicked shall (PERISH). The enemies of Yahweh shall be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish-- vanish like smoke.

Notice how Trinitarian translators tell us (PERISH) does not mean ETERNAL LIFE, but instead we read (PERISH) means (the resultant death being viewed as certain).

And the HELPS Word-studies tells us (perish) implies permanent (absolute) destruction, i.e. to cancel out (remove); "to die, with the implication of ruin and destruction" (L & N, 1, 23.106); cause to be lost (utterly perish) by experiencing a miserable end.

Notice how we read Trinitarians saying the UNSAVED will: experience a miserable END.

And yet in their other hand they say the UNSAVED will NEVER have an END.

Just as we read in Barnes' Notes on the Bible:

7. that the word used here is the same in the original as that used to express the eternal life of the righteous; if one can be proved to be limited in duration, the other can by the same arguments. "The proof that the righteous will be happy forever is precisely the same, and no other, than that the wicked will, be miserable forever."

To be miserable forever, means one would have to be ALIVE FOR EVER suffering.

John 3:36

The one believing in the Son has eternal life, but the one not obeying the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

Notice how we read in John 3:36 how the UNSAVED will not see life.

And yet MOST of Christianity say, believe and teach the DEAD UNSAVED will have LIFE and are still ALIVE in HELL, or will live in HELL on the second DEATH, which would mean the UNSAVED do still have LIFE, which contradicts John 3:36 saying how the UNSAVED will not see life, which simply means the UNSAVED will not have LIFE.

NOT seeing or having LIFE as John 3:36 tells us would mean the person would have to be completely DEAD, not ALIVE.

Living is existing and is LIFE, no matter if its in HEAVEN or in HELL.

Being conscious is having knowledge and is therefore LIFE.

If we are conscious of suffering by BURNING, then we are in PAIN, which is Living and we are existing and is LIFE.

Matthew 25:46

And these will go away into eternal punishment; but the righteous into eternal life."

What is eternal punishment?

The answer is given by Jesus in John 5:24

Truly, truly, I say to you that the one hearing My word and believing the One having sent Me, he has eternal life and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of (DEATH) into life.

Did you see what Jesus said: but has passed out of (DEATH) into life.

So the eternal punishment for the UNSAVED is (DEATH), NOT ETERNAL LIFE.

John 6:51

I am the living bread, having come down from heaven. If anyone shall have eaten of this bread, he will LIVE to the age. And also, the bread that I will give for the life of the world is My flesh."

1 John 3:14

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. The one not loving abides in (DEATH).

Romans 1:32

who having known the righteous judgment of God, that those doing such things are worthy of (DEATH), not only are practicing them, but are also approving of those practicing them.

Romans 5:12

Because of this, just as sin entered into the world through one man, and (DEATH) through sin, so also (DEATH) passed to all men, because all sinned.

Romans 6:16

Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves as slaves for obedience, you are slaves to him whom you obey, whether of sin to (DEATH), or of obedience to righteousness?

Romans 6:21

What fruit, therefore, did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is (DEATH).

Romans 8:6

For the mind of the flesh is (DEATH) but the mind of the Spirit, life and peace,

Romans 8:13

For if you live according to flesh, you are about to die; but if by the Spirit you put to (DEATH) the deeds of the body, you will live.

Romans 8:38

For I am persuaded that neither (DEATH), nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,

For the one sowing to his own flesh, from the flesh will reap (DECAY). But the one sowing to the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

To (DECAY) means to (PERISH), and as we have already seen Trinitarian translators tell us (PERISH) does not mean ETERNAL LIFE, but instead we read them saying (PERISH) means (the resultant death being viewed as certain).

John 10:10

The thief comes only that he might steal and might (KILL) and might (DESTROY). I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.

Notice how the Devil: comes only that he might steal and might (KILL) and might (DESTROY). 

Notice how there is nothing by Jesus here saying the UNSAVED will LIVE FOR EVER with the Devil in the lake of fire.

But instead Jesus tells us the Devil: comes only that he might steal and might (KILL) and might (DESTROY). 

This is very easy to understand how being (KILLED) and (DESTROYED), means (ANNIHILATION) and does NOT mean ETERNAL LIFE.

 Revelation 2:11

The one having an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one overcoming shall not be injured by the second (DEATH).

And yet many Christians say the UNSAVED will NOT receive DEATH, because they say the UNSAVED will NOT DIE.

Revelation 20:6

Blessed and holy is the one having a part in the first resurrection! Over these the second (DEATH) has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with Him a thousand years.

Revelation 20:6 tells us the saved will not have a second (DEATH).

And yet many Christians say the UNSAVED will also NOT have a second (DEATH), because they say they will always LIVE.

Revelation 20:14

And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second (DEATH), the lake of fire.

And yet many Christians say DEATH for the UNSAVED does not mean DEATH, but instead means ETERNAL LIFE.

Ezekiel 18:4

Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins, he shall (DIE).

And yet many Christians say the UNSAVED will NOT DIE.

Ezekiel 18:21

But if the wicked turn from all his sins that he has committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die

And yet many Christians say the UNSAVED will also NOT DIE.

Ezekiel 33:11

Tell them, As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I have no pleasure in the (DEATH) of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn, turn from your evil ways; for why will you die, house of Israel?

Psalm 145:20

Yahweh preserves all those who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.

How can the UNSAVED LIVE FOR EVER in HELL if they are DESTROYED?

Obadiah 1:15-16.

For the day of Yahweh is near all the nations! As you have done, it will be done to you. Your deeds will return upon your own head. For as you have drunk on my holy mountain, so will all the nations drink continually. Yes, they will drink, swallow down, and will be as though they had not been.

Matthew 10:28

And you should not be afraid of those killing the body but not being able to kill the soul. Indeed rather you should fear the One being able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.

Isaiah 55:5-6

Behold, you shall call a nation that you don't know; and a nation that didn't know you shall run to you, because of Yahweh your God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he has glorified you."

Seek Yahweh while he may be found; call you on him while he is near:

Psalm 104:35

Let sinners be consumed out of the earth. Let the wicked be no more. Bless Yahweh, my soul. Praise Yah! 

Psalm 104:35 tells us: Let sinners be consumed out of the earth. To be consumed out of the earth, simply means to be destroyed and removed from the earth.

Psalm 104:35 tells us: the wicked will be no more, in other words the wicked will NO MORE EXIST.

And yet many Christians say the UNSAVED will ALWAYS EXIST in the lake of fire.

As we have seen, just some of many COUNTLESS Scriptures saying and teaching THE UNSAVED Will Not Have ETERNAL LIFE ROASTING IN HELL FIRE FOR EVER AND EVER, but instead will receive the penalty for SIN which is DEATH.

Revelation 21:8

But to the cowardly and unbelieving and having become abominable and murderers and the sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their portion is in the lake burning with fire and brimstone, which is the second (DEATH)."

Notice how we DO NOT READ in Revelation 21:8 saying the UNSAVED will NOT have a second (DEATH), which would be the case if it were true that the UNSAVED do NOT DIE.

I could go on for ages, so I will now close by leaving you with the wonderful verse in Revelation 21:4: 

Revelation 21:4 There will be no more DEATH' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

Revelation 21:4 tells us: There will be no more (DEATH).

Could the many Christians who say, believe and teach, the DEAD unsaved are not DEAD and will never DIE, be correct?

Because Revelation 21:4 tells us: There will be no more (DEATH, which seems to prove the DEAD unsaved have already received DEATH instead of LIFE in HELL.

 The Good News:

Very soon, and in the very END, GOD will raise the DEAD, reward the righteous and remove, kill and destroy the wicked, the ungodly, and the unrepentant sinners, FOR EVER, creating a perfect world with NO sinners causing evil, rebellion, suffering or any SIN, but where Yahweh the One True GOD, and Jesus the prince of peace and their righteousness and the saints will live FOR EVER, in peace and harmony, loving and honouring our Father GOD who brought us into existence, through our saviour Jesus Christ who paid the price for our sins.
