The View of Sir Anthony Buzzard

One of the most important questions every Bible student should ask is:

What did Jesus Himself believe about God?

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus consistently affirmed the Jewish belief in one God, not three persons sharing one divine essence.

When asked which commandment was the greatest, Jesus replied:

"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one."
Mark 12:29

Rather than introducing a new understanding of God, Jesus repeated the Shema of Deuteronomy 6:4—the foundational confession of biblical monotheism that Israel had believed for centuries.

Sir Anthony Buzzard's Observation

Biblical scholar and theologian Sir Anthony Buzzard has frequently argued that Jesus was a Unitarian monotheist, faithfully teaching the same belief about God found throughout the Old Testament.

He points out that throughout Scripture:

• The Hebrew words Elohim, Adonai, and Yahweh, together with the Greek expression ὁ θεός (ho theos), overwhelmingly refer to the one God of Israel.

• Across thousands of occurrences in the Bible, these words are never used to mean a Trinity.

• In the New Testament, ὁ θεός ("the God") most commonly refers to the Father of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Himself prayed:

"This is eternal life, that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."
John 17:3

Here Jesus clearly distinguishes the Father, whom He calls "the only true God," from Himself, the One whom the Father sent.

What About the Passages Commonly Used to Support the Trinity?

A small number of passages—such as John 20:28 and Psalm 45, quoted in Hebrews 1—are often discussed in debates about Christ's identity.

These verses deserve careful study within their original language, literary context, and the wider teaching of Scripture.

Whatever conclusions are reached about those passages, they should be considered alongside the many clear statements in which Jesus identifies the Father as His God and affirms the biblical confession that God is one.

The Historical Question

It is also worth considering the observation of New Testament scholar A. T. Hanson, who wrote:

"No responsible New Testament scholar would claim that the doctrine of the Trinity was taught by Jesus, or preached by the earliest Christians, or consciously held by any writer in the New Testament."

Whether every scholar agrees with that assessment is another matter, but it illustrates that the historical development of Trinitarian doctrine continues to be discussed within academic scholarship.

A Personal Prayer

May the one true God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, guide every sincere seeker into His truth through His beloved Son, Jesus the Messiah.

May we always be willing to search the Scriptures with humility, testing every doctrine by God's Word, just as the Bereans did.

As a former Trinitarian, I struggled to grasp the concept of God as three persons, only to discover it wasn't biblical after all. Meeting Sir Anthony was a turning point.

We debated for two years, and initially, I was determined to expose his "false teachings".

But his insights resonated with Scripture, and I eventually realized he was right – the Trinity isn't biblical.

He humbled me, showing me the truth.

I credit Sir Anthony with guiding me back to God's word.

His teachings on Jesus' nature and hell fire challenged my assumptions, but ultimately led me to a deeper understanding.

I'm grateful God sent him my way. 🙏

Sir Anthony Buzzard's teachings focus on biblical Unitarianism, emphasizing God's unity and Jesus' role as the Messiah, as the literal Son of God in a physical sense.

He argues the Trinity doctrine emerged post-NT, influencing early church creeds.

Key points: - Jesus is the promised Messiah, not co-equal with God.

The Holy Spirit is God's active force, not a separate person.

The Trinity isn't explicitly mentioned in the Bible.

IS GOD A PERSON?

This article was sent to me by Sir Anthony Buzzard Greek and Hebrew Bible scholar.    

The word Person is very easy.  The Hebrew is Nephesh.

God is said to be a Deity Person and we are human persons (souls).

Singular personal pronouns in all language denote and define single persons

We all know that!  YHVH says “I am YHVH.” You say “I am Simon.’

We all know that is one single person.  This happens for God thousands and thousands of times.

One needs no special definition of person!

“God is a highly resourceful and capable person.” Clark Pinnock, Most Moved Over: A Theology of God’s Openness, p 100.

“Yahweh and God are synonyms [and] the concept of God includes the concept of person and is shaped by it.” WBC, theos.

"Where the word heis {ONE) takes the place of a predicate [Mar 12.29, 32; Gal 3.20; Jam 2.19] it means one person.” (Thayer, A Greek, English Lexicon of the NT)

As Christianity emerged from Judaism, and is a monotheistic religion, and Yahweh Father GOD of creation is a Single Person, then GOD is obviously not three separate persons. Simon Brown Real discoveries org.

My meeting with Sir Anthony Buzzard and his Testimony.

On Sunday the 27 October 2019 my wife Emma and I met Sir Anthony Buzzard for the first time with more Unitarians.

This was quite embarrassing for me, as I used to teach Mr Anthony Buzzard was a false teacher, until over two years of debates I discovered I was wrong, and I was the deceived person.

I came to some videos by Mr Anthony Buzzard, and i started debating countless Unitarians for about 7 mounts, and my eyes started to open, and in time I came to a simple understanding by Mr Anthony Buzzard, and that fact was THREE separate persons makes THREE separate GOD'S and not ONE, contradicting the whole bible and the word of GOD.

This immediately raised alarm bells in my ears, which forced my wife and I to leave the Trinitarian faith, and leaving me with a righteous anger against the TRINITY faith for deceiving me for 10 deceived years.

So from there I created many videos proving the TRINITY was false and Jesus is not GOD.

My videos became very popular as I would get about 1000 to 2000 views in the first day, and as I added on my old video A DISCLAIMER, where I was teaching Jesus was GOD, and saying I have repented and I was wrong, that same video shot up to about 250,000 views with thousands of comments, and hundreds coming in every week,

My channel climbed to just under 20’000 subscribers.

But I still had some blindness in my faith, as I would not believe Mr Anthony Buzzard and Unitarians saying Jesus did not pre-exist His flesh, and I was teaching Mr Buzzard was deceiving people with his teachings about Jesus not being the word in John 1:1 and he said was instead  GOD the Father Himself.

Well after another 2 years of debating Mr Buzzard nearly every day, and Unitarians, I started getting brain waves, and thinking  Mr Anthony Buzzard and Unitarians must be correct, as how did Jesus change from an ANGEL or a powerful Spirit into a BABY.

And there were countless other logical reasons proving Jesus is not GOD and could have not preexisted his flesh, and my reason and explanations can be read and see in my videos and articles.

And I already know Jesus could not have been one of GOD’s Mighty Angels because we are told about this in Hebrews 1:5:

For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son”?

But the pride in my heart was still holding me back from believing in the whole truth, until another red flag popped up in my mind thinking and saying, GOD always says and declares He was on His own, BY MY SELF in countless scripture like Isaiah 44:24: Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: “I am the LORD, who made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth BY MYSELF,

So I came to another revelation, that as GOD always says He was on His own BY MYSELF when creating the world, where Is Jesus if He was WITH GOD as the (word) in John 1:1?
Also WHERE is the Holy Spirit if the Spirit is a SEPARATE person?

Going to another scripture that made me aware of Jesus not preexisting his flesh that made me take the next step of faith in the right direction, and helping me to CLIMB over countless deceptions, was the verse answering to who John was referring to in John 1:1, which was in Psalm 33:6 saying:

By Yahweh's word, the heavens were made; all their army by the breath of his mouth. World English Bible.

Just as I was coming to understand the whole truth, that Jesus also did not pre-exist His flesh and was a MAN, my popular You tube channel was DELETED by You Tube for reasons I still cannot understand today.  I received an email from Google saying: Your Google Account is disabled.

The good news was that all my countless wrong comments teaching Jesus was the first born Son of all creation, and was the word in John 1:1 who was WITH GOD before creation, was ALL DELETED with my 600+ videos and millions of comments.

I felt like my heart was ripped out of my body, when I lost my You tube channel.

But I felt like GOD was saying I must now start from new, and only teach what is true as all my false teachings were now DELETED, with my correct teachings on the false TRINITY.

I now believe GOD made good out of the bad.

I already had another you tube channel HERE that was not as popular which had 800 subscribers, which i now use everyday.

Well I do hope I have not bored you to sleep, and as you have made it here to the end.

I would like to give a special thanks to Sir Anthony Buzzard, for his incredible patience, proving his love, and proving to be a true man of GOD, by helping the blind SEE, by communicating with me for around 3 years, nearly everyday, who was never, ever aggressive, but always so polite as a true gentleman.
